About SYL
Empowering young people through learning, inclusion, and international opportunities.
Svenska Youth League is a nonprofit organisation in Gothenburg. We connect young people with learning, community initiatives and international cooperation. SYL is an organisation, not a youth centre.
Founded in 2016.
Our Mission
To empower young people with knowledge, skills and international networks so they can take initiative and contribute positively to society.
Our Audience
We focus on young people, especially those facing barriers to education, participation, personal development and international opportunities. We also work with youth organisations, educators and international partners who share our goals.
We build opportunities through partnership and participation, with young people’s experiences and agency at the centre.
Raise awareness and encourage participation in international projects.
Support learning through workshops, training, exchanges and practical activities.
Encourage leadership, participation and personal development.
Promote equal opportunities, intercultural understanding and community participation.
Connect organisations and communities across borders.
Erasmus+ is central to our work. We aim to make international learning and cooperation more accessible to young people and organisations.

Our work
Our work brings together seven connected areas that support participation, confidence, exchange and practical pathways for young people.
We create routes for young people to shape ideas, take responsibility and participate in community and civic life.
We work for meaningful participation across cultural, social and economic differences, especially where opportunities are unevenly available.
We support international learning and exchange through Erasmus+ experience and cooperation with organisations across Europe.
We use participatory learning methods that build knowledge, reflection, confidence and skills beyond the classroom.
We use sport as a practical setting for belonging, teamwork, wellbeing and stronger community connections.
We encourage initiative, teamwork and practical skills that can support young people’s future study, work and community roles.
We explore digital capability alongside critical participation, helping young people engage thoughtfully in civic and public life.
Our profile and archive reflect experience in Erasmus+ cooperation. Each opportunity has its own criteria, arrangements and organiser confirmation.

Records combine the existing project archive and SYL’s supplied partner profile. Coordinator locations are not necessarily activity venues; past projects are not open calls.
The archive includes three references from SYL’s supplied Partner Identification Form (PIF). These grant rows do not specify SYL’s role, exact dates or locations. They are marked as PIF records and are not included on the map.
Have an idea for a workshop, sport session or community activity? Share it with SYL. Activities depend on confirmed arrangements, not archive listings.

Read our Erasmus+ guide and project archive to see which formats and topics interest you.
Tell the SYL team about your interests, learning goals or idea. An interest form is not an application or a confirmed place.
Check published updates and discuss arrangements with the organiser before committing to an activity or booking travel.
This form is for ages 13–35 as a site contact range, not universal Erasmus+ eligibility. If you are older, contact us. Participation and funding require organiser confirmation.

We bring project management and local public and private stakeholder engagement to Erasmus+ partnerships.
We develop a dissemination plan with a communication strategy and measures for sharing project results and engaging the public.
We help partners build a realistic plan for using the results after the project, and find funding for follow-up projects.
We design, develop and maintain project websites with the coordinator, and produce material that makes the project visible.

We coordinated · Capacity building
A partnership we coordinated, between three European and three African organisations, on social and sustainable entrepreneurship. It included job shadowing for youth workers, local workshops for young people, a bootcamp on green and social entrepreneurship and a podcast series, and resulted in six local hubs.

Five organisations from Portugal, Greece, Czechia, Romania and Sweden train youth workers in business mentoring and career guidance, so young people can start their own businesses or social projects. The partnership is also building a mentor network and an online resource hub.

Erasmus+
Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport. Here are the basics, so you know what you can do and what to ask.
Non-formal learning and participation: young people and youth workers meet across borders.
Groups of young people from different countries meet and work on a shared topic, such as climate, culture or digital skills.
Training courses and seminars that strengthen the people who lead and support young people.
Initiatives for civic participation and democratic dialogue.
Organisations share practice, build capacity and develop approaches that benefit young people.
Flexible projects for grassroots organisations that want to build capacity and international links.
Larger projects that develop toolkits, research and recommendations.
Youth exchanges are generally for participants aged 13–30; group leaders must be 18 or older. An opportunity may set narrower criteria.
Youth exchanges usually last 5–21 days, excluding travel. Youth-worker mobility can run 2–60 days; exact duration varies.
Individuals normally take part through an organisation; organisations apply to a National Agency. First express interest and wait for organiser confirmation before making arrangements.
An approved project can contribute to travel, accommodation, meals and activities. What is covered, and whether a participant contribution applies, depends on the project. Confirm with the organiser before you book anything.
Read about the format, who it is for and what participation may involve before deciding whether it suits you.
Tell an organiser or partner organisation that you would like to learn more. Interest does not confirm a place, funding or travel.
Wait for the organiser to confirm your place, budget terms, insurance and safeguarding arrangements before making travel bookings or other commitments.
No. Youth exchanges use non-formal learning, such as workshops and discussions, and are not restricted to university students.
Erasmus+ grants can contribute to travel, practical and activity costs, but they are not a blanket promise of a free trip. Check budget caps, any justified contribution, reimbursement timing and insurance with the organiser before committing. For youth exchanges, participants with fewer opportunities must not be charged a participant contribution.
The general interest form accepts ages 13–35; this is not an Erasmus+ eligibility rule. Standard youth exchanges are for ages 13–30, while other activities have different rules. If you are outside the form range, contact SYL with your question.
Start by telling an organiser or partner organisation that you are interested. Programme applications are made by organisations to National Agencies; an expression of interest is not a place or funding.
Ask the organiser early about inclusion, accessibility and safeguarding. Before committing, clarify support needs, supervision, travel, insurance and any parental or guardian consent requirements for minors.
Youthpass can help document and reflect on learning from an activity. It is not a degree.
Programme information checked October 29, 2026. The current Programme Guide and each published call take precedence.
